Lorraine Schneider, CEM
Lorraine Schneider serves as the Senior Manager of the Preparedness Network at the NYC Preparedness & Recovery Institute (PRI), where she leads multi-sectoral partnerships and coalitions across New York City's boroughs to strengthen community resilience, particularly in underserved neighborhoods. She supports PRI’s programming and governance, helping to bridge government, industry, community, and cultural institutions citywide.
Previously, Lorraine was Chief Operating Officer at The Resiliency Initiative, a crisis management and business continuity consulting firm dedicated to helping organizations and communities plan better and recover quicker. Prior to that, she developed impactful training, exercise, and preparedness programs for The Walt Disney Company and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In 2020, she founded the Emergency Management Growth Initiative (EMGI) to make the field more visible, inclusive, and accessible. Lorraine serves as Chairwoman of the Board for Project:Camp, a nonprofit that provides pop-up camps for children impacted by disasters, and was an inaugural Board Member of California Women in Homeland Security.
She holds an MSc in International Strategy and Diplomacy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a Certificate in Emergency Management & Homeland Security from UCLA Extension, and a BA in North American Studies from the Freie Universität Berlin. After growing up in Europe, she spent a decade in Los Angeles before relocating to Brooklyn, NY.
