A New Chapter in Our Journey: Introducing The Resiliency Institute

This month marks a milestone moment for all of us at The Resiliency Initiative — the official launch of our nonprofit organization, the Resiliency Institute. What began as a dream to expand the reach of our work has now become a reality — a dedicated 501(c)(3) organization committed to building a more resilient world through learning, innovation, and storytelling.

When I started The Resiliency Initiative, my goal was simple: to help organizations and communities become stronger and more self-reliant in the face of crisis. Over the years, I’ve witnessed how resilience isn’t just about surviving the hard moments — it’s about transforming through them. The Institute was born from that belief — that resilience is both a skill and a shared human story.

At its core, The Resiliency Institute continues our commitment to invest in and support the security and emergency management community — the professionals whose work, often behind the scenes, keeps people and organizations safe when it matters most.

The Institute’s Three Pillars of Purpose

The Institute will focus on three interconnected areas that reflect our core mission and the heart of what we do:

Intellectual Growth

Knowledge is the cornerstone of preparedness. Our award-winning Resiliency Academies will serve as the tentpole program for this pillar. As an ASIS Preferred Provider, bringing the Academies under The Resiliency Institute’s umbrella enables us to expand access, offering best-in-class training led by subject matter experts at a below-market price point.

The Academies fill a critical gap in emergency management training, addressing the unique needs of the private sector with comprehensive, all-hazards preparedness courses — designed by the private sector, for the private sector.

Graduates earn a certificate of completion for 16 CEUs, applicable toward all three ASIS certifications, DRII recertifications, or IAEM’s Certified Associate and Emergency Manager accreditation. These programs exemplify our commitment to intellectual growth — empowering professionals to lead with clarity and confidence when it matters most.

Financial Empowerment

Resilience extends beyond planning — it’s also about stability and sustainability. Through our Resilient Futures Challenge, launching in Fall 2026, we’ll provide micro-grants to small businesses and organizations that are building stronger, more adaptable communities. Whether it’s funding a community’s crisis preparedness workshop or helping a small business design a continuity plan, the Challenge underscores that meaningful resilience starts with the right tools, training, and opportunities to prepare before disaster strikes.

Interested organizations can join our mailing list to receive updates and application details as we prepare for our inaugural Challenge.

Inspiring Resiliency

Finally, the Institute will shine a light on the human side of resilience — the courage, compassion, and creativity that carry people through adversity. Our Profiles in Resiliency YouTube series will feature real stories of strength, survival, and recovery. These powerful voices will highlight not just what was lost, but what was learned — fostering empathy, honoring lived experience, and celebrating the remarkable human spirit that unites us all.

Looking Ahead

The launch of The Resiliency Institute is more than an organizational milestone — it’s a promise. A promise to continue evolving, collaborating, and creating spaces where resilience can flourish in all its forms.

To everyone who believed in our mission, supported our programs, and shared your stories — thank you. Your encouragement has been the foundation for everything we’ve built and everything we’re about to achieve.
